Our recent Gulf Stream fishing charters from Wilmington have been yielding exceptional results, with trophy wahoo and beautiful mahi-mahi providing world-class offshore fishing action. The Gulf Stream edge has been positioned approximately 35-40 miles southeast of Wrightsville Beach, with water temperatures reaching a perfect 78-80°F and crystal-clear blue water visibility exceeding 100 feet.
High-speed trolling with ballyhoo and feathers has been the most effective technique, producing wahoo in the 30-50 pound range. The mahi-mahi fishing has been equally impressive, with schools of fish ranging from schoolies to impressive bulls over 20 pounds. Weed lines and floating debris have been holding good numbers of fish, making this an excellent time for those seeking a premier offshore fishing experience. Our 27-foot World Cat catamaran handles the Gulf Stream conditions beautifully, providing a stable platform for fighting these powerful pelagic species.
Yesterday's charter resulted in two wahoo over 40 pounds, six keeper mahi-mahi, and several smaller dolphin that were released. The bite has been consistent throughout the day, though the wahoo seem most active during the early morning hours. Blackfin tuna have also been mixed in the catch, adding to the variety. For anglers planning a Wilmington offshore fishing charter, this represents some of the best Gulf Stream fishing we've seen this season, with multiple species providing non-stop action.
